Can you fit 33-inch tyres on a Nissan Navara D23?
Considering 33s on a Navara NP300/D23? Compare factory sizes, the Warrior example and the wheel, clearance and approval questions to settle first.

Do not treat 33-inch tyres as a direct replacement on a standard Navara D23. The size increase is substantial from common factory tyres, and a Warrior photograph is not proof that the same setup fits your SL, ST or ST-X.
This guide covers Australian NP300/D23 dual cabs. Earlier D22 and D40 Navaras are excluded, as is the replacement Navara introduced for 2026. If your ute was registered around a model change, identify it by its build details rather than registration year alone.
Start with the tyre Nissan specified
The MY25 D23 specification sheet lists 255/65R17 and 255/60R18 packages across the ordinary range. Check your own placard because that sheet is an example from one model year.
Here is the size difference before brand-specific dimensions:

Calculations use nominal size notation. They do not establish a legal baseline, actual inflated diameter or permission to fit the larger size.
Is the Warrior on 33s?
Nissan's published PRO-4X Warrior by Premcar specification identifies 275/70R17 tyres. That size calculates to about 32.2 inches.
More importantly, the Warrior is a complete developed package. Its tyre size is not a stand-alone modification instruction for an ordinary D23. If you own a Warrior, preserve the conversion details when asking about replacements.
The practical lesson is to compare the whole build, not just its badge or sidewall.
Will a two-inch lift make 285/70R17 fit?
A lift specification alone is insufficient evidence. The wheel width, offset and tyre profile determine where the larger tyre sits and moves.
Ask the fitter to identify the likely contact areas, then check the chosen combination through steering lock and suspension travel at realistic load. Include the front bodywork, suspension clearance and the spare location in the quote. A promise that it 'only rubs in reverse' is not a satisfactory result.
We have not established a single no-rub 285/70R17 recipe covering the ordinary D23 range, so this guide does not prescribe one.
Decide what you actually want to change
You want better grip on your existing work ute: begin with an appropriate all-terrain in the current approved size. You can change tread and construction without making tyre diameter the centre of the project.
You want more tyre around a 17-inch wheel: ask for a complete size assessment, including options below 33 inches. Smaller is a comparison to investigate, not an automatic compliance claim.
You want a 33-inch build: establish the tyre, wheel, clearance work and approval path as one proposal. Have the installer explain why the specification applies to your exact D23.
Before you order
Give the supplier the build date, grade, wheel markings, tyre placard and details of existing suspension or Warrior conversion work. Confirm the installed price for five tyres if the project needs a matching spare.
Have the registration requirements checked for your jurisdiction. VSB 14 is a starting reference, not a universal permission slip.
